  • Bradford East1 is one of 14 Local Area Partnerships (LAP’s) in Bradford. Each is charged with co-ordinating support services for local children and their families across their area.
  • In Bradford East1’s case this includes 16 Primary schools, 2 Secondary schools Hanson and Immanuel College. The range of services offered includes holiday activities, courses for parents, after school clubs and signposting families to other agencies.
  • An Extended school is one that provides a range of services and activities often beyond the school day to help meet the needs of its pupils, their families and the wider community.
  • The DFE (Department for Education) has stated that, over time schools need to be providing a core offer of services.
  • For Primary schools, this means that they can offer a varied menu of activities i.e. homework clubs, sports and arts etc, parenting support i.e. family learning, community access and ensure swift access to a wider range of specialist services for pupils.
  • For Secondary Schools this means providing access to a varied menu of study support and enrichment activities which provide fun and stimulating activities for young people, as well as a safe place to be.
